A week busy week in Tweenies....

Child led activity:
Two children chose to dress up in princess dresses, accessing all areas of continuous provision, pretending to be princesses. This soon became a great interest to all the children, who all became involved in this activity. Staff did not intervene, they observed the following:

PSED - Making relationships
• Interested in others’ play and starting to join in.
•Seeks out others to share experiences.
•Shows affection and concern for people who are special to them.
•May form a special friendship with another child.
C&L - Speaking
•Uses language as a powerful means of widening contacts, sharing feelings, experiences and thoughts.
•Holds a conversation, jumping from topic to topic.
•Learns new words very rapidly and is able to use them in communicating.
Literacy - Reading
•Has some favourite stories.
•Repeats words or phrases from familiar stories.

It was lovely to watch a group of 8 two year olds engage in an activity initiated by themselves, not requiring any adult input.

Due to the great interest in the princess theme, staff set up an invitation to learning (taking into consideration children's next steps in learning)

Play dough station - making crowns and necklaces
