This is Teepo and Mimi..........

Teepo and Mimi are used to establish a child's level of comprehension and expressive language.

Teepo and Mimi have 4 group time rules......

The children also learn the sign for each of these group time rules.

Over the weeks the children will develop their listening and attention skills, early phonological awareness, understanding of big and little, positional language, narrative skills, sequencing and use of rhyming words. Child Safety

It has been brought to our attention that some parents are;

  •  not strapping children into their car seat
  •  leaving children unattended in the car whilst dropping off siblings
As part of our Mr Tumble 'stay safe week the children took part in 'Seat belt safety' activities. The focus for these types of activities are to help children to take responsibility and to understand how to keep themselves safe from relevant risks. (if your little one requests you put their seat belt on please do so, not only for their safety but to instill this safety message)

Adeema showing the children how to strap themselves in

These statistics are quoted from  'Child alert'.

Accidents in our Cars.......
  •  2 million children face injury or death every year because their parents have not fitted their car safety seat correctly.
  •  Experts say that a collision of just 5mph can kill an unrestrained child in a car

  •     babies, toddlers and very young children should never be left alone
  •    Parents can be prosecuted if they leave a child unsupervised ‘in a manner likely to cause    unnecessary suffering or injury to health’.

Role models

This afternoon some of the Pre school children went into the Tweenie Room to act as role models for the younger children during afternoon snack. They got on their 'teacher' aprons, set up the tables and served the snack.
Staff observed the children demonstrating the following 'Characteristics of Effective Learning':

  • showing curiosity about other people
  • representing their experiences in play
  • taking on a role in their play
  • acting out experiences with other people
  • showing a can do attitude
  • showing satisfaction in meeting their own goals

Visit from Zoo Lab

On Monday morning Zoo Lab came to Nursery........

Our focus was 'Understanding the world' the Zoo Lab provided an excellent opportunity for our children to:

  • observe animals/ creatures and what they do
  • comment and ask questions about the natural world
  • talk about the creatures they have observed/ touched
  • develop an understanding of growth and changes over time
  • show care and concern for living thing
Although the focus was the 'Understanding the world' we were so proud of our children who showed excellent listening and attention skills throughout the whole session. They were confident and outgoing towards 'George the wizard' who is an unfamiliar adult.

More photographs will be displayed throughout the Nursery.
