People who help us......

During continuous provision a child talked to Keira about his interest in Fireman Sam and Police Officers.

As part of a next step Keira set out the fire and police role play. (also paramedic)

Intent: To observe from afar the language used during role play (Speech and Language)

Impact:
People and communities- showing an interest in occupations.
C&L - Keira observed a wide range of conversations, some children used gestures with limited speech and others used more complex sentences such as 'paramedics drive the ambulance and help people'.
Expressive arts and design - Being imaginative - the children used other resources within the continuous provision to support their role play
Characteristic of effective learning - Playing and exploring
•Pretending objects are things from their experience
•Representing their experiences in play
•Taking on a role in their play
•Acting out experiences with other people

These resources were left out for the rest of the session and the majority of the children engaged in the role play activity.
