What would you use bricks for???

Intent: 
Next steps in learning and development - Maths 
Area of provision: in the construction area due to child's interest
Implementation:
During building activity EYP used mathematical language ie height, tall, bigger, height, 1-10
Impact
Counting bricks individually 1-10
Building 2 towers - comparing amounts 
Comparing own height to the towers and says "I am bigger"
Characteristic of effective learning: 
Having their own ideas 
•Thinking of ideas 
•Finding ways to solve problems 
•Finding new ways to do things
Making links 
•Making predictions 
•Testing their ideas
Choosing ways to do things 
•Planning, making decisions about how to approach a task, solve a problem and reach a goal

Other children became involved in this exciting activity, staff heard some lovely conversations about how they can reach the top of the tower. 








Meanwhile in the Tweenie Room the children were working together  to make stepping stone to get from one side of the room to the other.
