Mr Tumble Week

Week Commencing 26th October 2015
Healthy Message
Mr Tumble says: "Wash your Hands" (Physical Development: Health and Self Care)
As part of our daily routine all the children are encouraged to wash their hands before snack/ meal times and after using the toilet/ nappy change.
This week the children put their hands in glitter which we pretended were germs. We had to wash our hands thoroughly with soap to get rid of all the germs. Lots of vocabulary was used such as rub, wash, bubbles, germs, dry, clean etc.  Pre school talked about the importance of hand washing.

Safety Message
Mr Tumble says: "Be aware of Strangers"
(Advice for parents)
Who is a stranger ?
A stranger is anyone that your family doesn’t know well. It’s common for children to think that “bad strangers” look scary, like the villains in cartoons.
When you talk to your children about strangers, explain that no one can tell if strangers are nice or not nice just by looking at them and that they should be careful around all strangers.

Who are safe strangers?
Safe strangers are people children can ask for help when they need it. Police officers and firefighters are two examples of very recognisable safe strangers.
Teachers, principals, and librarians are adults children can trust too, and they are easy to recognise when they’re at work. But make sure that you emphasise that whenever possible, children should go to a public place to ask for help.

"What's in the bag":
Each room has a Mr Tumble spotty bag. In the bag staff put objects of reference relating to the focus. This month the bags include: witches hat , witches cat, Room on the Broom story, pictures of people washing hands, glitter, pictures of pumpkins and soap.
