 Playing and Exploring

Finding out and exploring

·        Engaging in open-ended activity

·        Showing particular interests

·        Showing curiosity about objects

Being willing to ‘have a go’

·        Showing a ‘can do’ attitude

·        Taking a risk, engaging in new experiences, and learning by trial and error (when the tent fell down, the children worked together to build it back up)

Making bubbles

Intent:
Can you put your own wellies on?
Implementation:
Adult to set up a bubble making stamp pad that children need their wellies on to join in

Parents: As part of School Readiness please support your child's growing independence by encouraging them to help with putting on their own shoes/ wellies.

Can you put your coat on?

Physical Development: Health and Self Care
We have been practicing putting on our own coats....

As part of School Readiness please support your child's growing independence by encouraging them to help with dressing ie pulling up their own pants, putting on their own coat, putting on their own socks etc.

Tweenies have been busy exploring a variety of sensory materials.....

The children are settling into the Tweenie Room really well and have enjoyed exploring a variety of sensory materials.

These activities help build up the muscles in the children's shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers (please see post about pre writing development)

We're going on a bug hunt....

Intent

Individual next step:  PSED: Making relationships with new children now his other friends have left to go to school:

Implementation

Following the child’s interest Steph used ‘Bugs’ as a focus to encourage children to form relationships and work together. A Bug Hunt took place outside in the garden.

Impact

Wow!  Steph heard some wonderful conversations between the children about eggs, slugs and worms. They discussed what they could see using some very good descriptive language.

Walking through the jungle

Intent - To help settle new children into Nursery life

Implementation: From the 'All about me' documents some of the children enjoy singing

Jungle walk outside: singing and acting out 'Walking through the jungle, what do you see?'

We were monkeys, elephants, lions, crocodiles and snakes

This is the book 'Walking through the jungle'

Impact

The child who was upset soon became engaged in the activity with a small number of other children. After a few times round the garden all the children came over to join in, showing enthusiasm when shouting out the next animal to act out.
