How does the big tape dispenser work?

"Steph, how does this work?" (big tape dispenser)

Steph showed the children how it worked, then this happened.......

Steph observed children working together, lots of positional language, sharing, descriptive language and demonstrating scissor control.

Water station

The children were filling up containers from the puddles, Wendy set up an Invitation to Learning creating a 'Water Station'.
The children had to think how to fill up their containers, what to fill up their containers with and work together to fill up the large bucket at the end of the shoot.

Wendy observed the children:
-Thinking critically
- Maintain focus on an activity for a period of time
-PSED- working together, demonstrating friendly behaviour, show confidence asking adult for help
-C&L - Listen to others, show awareness of prepositions, using more complex sentences.
-Physical- lots of muscle building in preparation for writing, independence with washing and drying own hands.
Maths - knowing anything can be counted not just objects, using language such as more and less

Most importantly the children demonstrate a love for learning.

Developing our muscles in preparation for writing

Who knew pre writing development could be such fun?
Remember children need to develop their Shoulder Muscles, Elbow Muscles, Wrist Muscles and Finger Muscles to enable them to become successful writers.

Colour mixing

The children had been exploring with colours using pasta, rice and food colouring earlier in the day.
Keira gave the children the idea of making coloured hands to freeze, they mixed food colouring and paints to make the colours.

One of the gloves had a hole in, Keira and the children used milk in the glove 'it's like milking a cow'
