Please take your time to look at our 'How we evaluate our teaching and learning' board, situated in the Children's Centre entrance.
We contacted all the Primary School's to ask for the end of foundation stage results for the children who left in 2015. We received results back from 4 Primary Schools' for 28 children.
84% of St Mary's Nursery children achieved the 'Expected Level of Development' with some children exceeding.  The national average is 66.6%.

Harvest Collection 

Please contribute to our Harvest collection by bringing in tins, biscuits, pasta etc during the week of the 19th September.

Some of our Pre School children will take our Harvest basket to Sacred

Heart Church on Friday 23rd September.

How can you help me with my learning?

We have devised a leaflet for parents with ideas of activities you can do at home to help your child with their learning. There are  activities for each of the  following  areas of learning:

¨ Mathematics

¨ Literacy

¨ Understanding the world

Booklet 1 = Birth to 26 months

Booklet 2 = 16– 50 months

Booklet 3 = 22- 60 months

Please pick up a leaflet from near the office window.

 Child Led Ideas

Please can all parents write on the child led ideas sheet in each room what their child is interested in. This will help staff to plan activities based on what children enjoy and their own interest's.

 Just a few reminders

-Children must not wear earrings for Nursery.

-If your contact details or address change please inform Nursery.

-All items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

-Do not leave children unattended in the car on the Children’s Centre car park.

-If your child is has sickness or diarrhoea they have to be off  Nursery for 48hr from the last episode.

- Medicine is not to be kept in children’s bags.

Welcome to all our new children and their families. 

Please make sure you have returned the following paperwork: 

1. Brochure Pack 

2. 'All about Me' booklet 

3. 'What to expect when' document

Theses can be handed to your child's key worker. 

The key worker will study these documents to gain an overview of your child which will aid their settling in process and next steps. These documentations will be placed in your child’s Learning Journey for future reference and reflection.

Our trip to St Mary's Nursery @ The Park

Bear has gone on holiday......

On Monday 25th July Pre School Bear told the children that he was going on holiday to the jungle. He asked the children what he would need to pack in his suitcase.

After lots of discussion the children packed sun cream, clothes and a sunhat. ***** said 'he'll need a passport and ticket' so she made the passport and ****** made the ticket. 

Bear phoned for a taxi and the children took him to the gate and said bye bye. 

On Monday the pre school children went to the library to look for books to learn about the jungle. They had lots of discussion about what Bear might see. Their favorite story was 'The Enormous Crocodile'. On Tuesday morning an enormous crocodile was in our water tray and he had made the water very dirty!!!! 

During the day on Tuesday the children wanted to go for a walk to see if they could find a jungle, they made cheese sandwiches to have a picnic. We didn't find a jungle but we did see lots of trees...

On Wednesday the children wanted to make a den, we found some army netting and made the home corner into a Jungle den. The children wanted a table and chairs in their den so they could eat their dinner :)

 On Thursday morning a letter arrived in the post addressed to Pre School. It was a letter from Bear, letting us know that he was having a good time. He also sent us some photographs of things he had seen. 

On Friday Bear phoned to say he was on his way back to Nursery. The children went to look for him......

Oh no Bear is in the tree!!!! The children talked about how we could get Bear out of the tree....
one suggestions was to open the gate and Bear might climb down it.... this didn't work! *** said if I pull his leg he will come down ...... yippee it worked Bear got lots of cuddles :)

 Bear was really hungry so the children gave him some fruit and a drink of water.

After his snack bear was really tired, the children tucked him up and said 'Good Night'
